Diving Mask Maintenance: Clear Vision Starts Here

A well-maintained mask means no leaks, no fog, and no missed marine life. Here’s how to keep your diving mask in top condition.

Before your first dive clean off the factory sealant with a non-abrasive toothpaste or specialised mask scrub. Rub it into the lenses (inside and out), then rinse thoroughly. This helps prevent fogging on future dives.

After every dive, rinse your mask in fresh water especially around the skirt and strap. Saltwater and sand degrade silicone and can cause leaks over time. Avoid leaving your mask in the sun or on hot surfaces, which warp and weaken the frame and skirt.

Dry it completely before storage, and keep it in a hard case to prevent scratches or deformation.

Before each dive apply a defog solution or use the old-school method, spit and rinse. Just ensure the mask stays dry inside until you're ready to enter the water.

Check for signs of wear: cracked silicone, stiff straps, or damaged lenses should be replaced immediately.

With a little care, your mask will give you years of crystal-clear dives. Treat it like your window to the underwater world, because it is.
