Offshore Geraldton, WA
The Abrolhos comprise three island groups (Wallabi, Easter, Pelsaert) across 100 kilometres of reef structure, reached by liveaboard or extended day charter from Geraldton or Kalbarri. The Leeuwin Current pushes tropical species south to mix with temperate residents, producing an unusually diverse fish assemblage. The Batavia wreck on Morning Reef (scuttled 1629, the oldest European wreck in Australian waters) is dive-accessible in shallow water with cannons and ballast still visible. Sea lion colonies on outer islands routinely interact with divers. Trips are weather-window dependent and require advance booking.
