Rottnest Island, WA
The reef sits a short boat ride from Rottnest's main settlement at Thomson Bay and offers undulating limestone structure with small caves, overhangs and sandy patches. Tropical strays from the Leeuwin Current mix with the endemic temperate fish population. Conditions are generally sheltered and visibility is consistent year-round, making it Rottnest's go-to introduction dive.
Visibility at Roe Reef typically ranges from 10 to 20 metres, though it shifts with swell, wind and recent rainfall. All year, best December to April generally offers the best conditions for diving here.
