Entries from the beach drop into a mix of seagrass and reef, with kelp-covered rocks and gutters that shelter seadragons, octopus, cuttlefish and crayfish. Depths run from a few metres in the bay to around 18m at the reef edge. Sheltered and good for training.
Visibility at Fortescue Bay typically ranges from 5 to 15 metres, though it shifts with swell, wind and recent rainfall. All year, best November to April generally offers the best conditions for diving here.
